2007 Beach Watchers Seminar Series

Understanding Puget Sound Natural Shoreline Processes: Why bulkheads may not work.

Doug Myers, Habitat Restoration Mgr., Puget Sound Action Team - Office of the Governor

Friday, May 18, 7 pm
Anacortes Public Library
, 1220 10th Street

Come learn about the natural forces and manmade impacts that shape our shorelines. Doug Myers will discuss natural processes such as littoral drift, bluff erosion, and wave action that form the character of our beaches. He’ll compare how traditional hard armoring (bulkheads) and newer low-impact soft shore armoring techniques perform in controlling shoreline erosion.
