Author Presentation at the Anacortes Public Library
Join mixed-media artist Katherine Wells as she discusses her book Life on the Rocks One Woman's Adventures in Petroglyph Preservation. Wells' memoir is a lively account of her struggle to protect local rock art. It is also a manual about how to build a house out of straw bales, and a memoir of her life as an artist in her adopted state.
Wells' adventurous spirit has led her on backpacking, rafting, sailing, and mountain biking adventures all over the West and as far away as Tierra del Fuego. In 1992, Wells and her partner purchased 188 acres of land in New Mexico, unaware at the time that the property held almost 7,000 petroglyphs. Thus began her odyssey with rock carvings.
