Men's Breakfast: All about Automobiles

Have a hearty breakfast for only $1.00 and then listen to Bob Cromack explain the automobile industry from the inside out.

History of the Evolution of the Automobile

The automobile will be 126 years old in 2010, but the concept for automotive power was first defined by by Hero of Alexandria, who foresaw the possibility of using steam to replace horses and create movement as early as 150 B.C., and later by Leonardo da Vinci, whose sketches for such motive devices appeared in his Codice Atlantico in the early 1500’s.

After a number of unsuccessful attempts during the intervening years by scientists, mechanics and tinkerers around the world, the first true automobile was constructed in 1884 by a Frenchman named Edouard Delamarre-Deboutteville.  Throughout the years, motive power for these machines has been provided by steam engines, electric motors and internal combustion engines (both diesel and gasoline).

Want to see illustrations of some of the early automobiles?  Want to learn who built the first production autos in the United States?

Come to the Men’s Breakfast for an informal, illustrated talk on the evolution of the automobile by Bob Cromack on March 17th at 8AM_____.  Bring a guest.
