Beachwatchers: Jellyfish Gone Wild!

In recent years, the world's oceans are experiencing enormous blooms of jellyfish.  Their population increase has been at the expense of their main competitor - fish.

Please join us Friday, February 11th, 7p.m. at the Anacortes Library, to hear Jennifer Purcell, Marine Scientist of the WWU Shannon Point Marine Science Center, discuss how over-fishing, rising sea temperatures, declining water quality, as well as other human-caused changes are the chief suspects in the rise of jellies. Find out more about the problems jellyfish are causing and what you can do to help. The lecture is free and open to the public.

This lecture is second in a series of presentations this winter sponsored by the Skagit Co. WSU Beach Watchers, promoting education and stewardship of our local marine resources.
