Howard Pellett, volunteer for Smart Recovery addiction programs for Monroe Correctional Complex and the Everett Community Justice Center is receiving tools and household articles for the Shipwreck day sale fundraiser held to purchase instructional materials for inmates and parolees interested in dealing with substance abuse issues.  Money raised from the sale will be used to purchase participant manuals for inmates and parolees enrolled in Smart Recovery groups.

Sixty to 80% of folks under Department of Corrections supervision have various substance abuse issues which have often led to criminal activity and Department of Corrections incarceration and supervision.  The purpose of Smart Recovery programs is to assist attendees to overcome substance abuse, thereby improving their chances of avoiding criminal behaviour in the future.
