Outside the Lines: Ferry Tales IV

Series Finale

This last and final episode, before going to the Skagit County Commissioners, of the Task Force series - the GIFC meeting - was notable. There were no directors at this meeting but the lead roles were perfectly cast and the “stars” delivered their lines with sincerity.

This moved the audience to applaud spontaneously several times. The stellar performances of the anchors carried throughout. Many of the “extras” studied the scripts and were eager to listen and establish dialogue.

An attempt was made to circulate a petition to cancel the series. The petition had some valid points, but needed amendment. Endorsements were given and later reconsidered.

For the most part it was dismissed as “non-combatants coming to the field after the battle and shooting the survivors.” Written comments are welcome and can be presented to the Board of Commissioners on December 22.

The five minute limit to audition for speaking parts (questions and answers) was not enough for some, so they did NOT “get the part”. A “sour grapes” attitude was prevalent judging from the grumbling heard.

This final episode seemed more productive and more informative than previous ones. It lent credibility to the series and established lines of communication from the stage to the audience. This was not evident early on. The Ferry Committee may not be ready for prime time but they’ve got a good shot at a spin off show with the same cast of characters. They work well together and might be in contention for prime time with a “Round Table” adventure/implementation series for next year.

There is still much to work to be done and a pattern for continued dialogue established.

There may even be potential for an Emmy nomination.
