Island Library Board Meeting
March 17, 2008
President Carol Pellett
called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.
Present: Carol Pellett,
Mary Jo Andrak, Stella Spring, Anne Passarelli, Anne Jackets, Marla Hovey,
Terry Ebersole, Harry Finks, Susan Rombeek
Reports
The treasurer’s
report showed a current balance of $9244.79. The report was accepted by
the board.
The February 28, 2008,
minutes were approved as written.
Old Business
Dog Island
Run: Tim Wittman sent word that the county now says the road
work will be enough completed for us to use the original route for the
Dog Island Run. Therefore the plan is to use the original route and
the original time of 10:45. Some discussion of a Plan B took place.
Susan Rombeek will talk with the providers of tee shirts. Jan Ebersole
is to have the tee shirt design completed by April 1, 2008. MJ Andrak
has waited on the purchase of the banner because of questions about
the arch in the park. Marla Hovey will bring the check list next meeting.
Arch in
the Park: There has been difficulty in finding someone to build
and install the arch in the park. Anne Jackets and Stella Spring will
look into options. It is agreed that the library will pay for this work.
Stella will talk with Tom Butler. Also, the county will be asked if
they would do this work since they have asked to be present at the installation.
Jerry Frelix may have the right connections with the county.
Book Drop
is now completed and in operation in the library. This is nice work
and a good improvement.
Bylaws
were discussed. Anne Passarelli clarified two sections of the bylaws.
Anne Jackets will make these corrections and bring the bylaws to next
month’s meeting for final approval.
Computer
has been made very operational. Dave Wolf had priced a new computer
at Cosco, but he feels we are fine with the present one for now. He
has agreed to maintain the present computer each month, and we will
keep a question list to give to him as he does so. The board decided
to not purchase a new computer at this time.
Other Business
Vice President
position has become open with George Meekin’s
resignation. Anne Jackets was appointed to fill the position for now.
Planet Earth
series is still missing. Ånne Passarelli will purchase
this series again. She also shared the new books she has bought for
the library.
New Board
Members, Stella Spring and Terry Ebersole were officially recognized
and appreciated by all.
