The Relaunch of an Old Friend

You may have asked yourself, "who was the man rowing the launch from Guemes" this past weekend? You would have been correct, if you guessed our own Win Anderson.
Win Anderson bought the 17' launch planked-up in 1976 and finished it himself. The boat has Spruce planking in addition to an Oak keel, and Red and Yellow Cedar gunwales and seats, plus a bit of Cherry wood.
The boat was actually planked up at the King Dome Boat Show in 1976. Win spent three days of paid demos to put it together. The style is traditional Norwegian and named for his father Isak. The boat looks great.

Win actually rowed across the Guemes Channel for about a month before he rode the "new" (current) ferry. Depending on current and wind, the trip could take as few as twelve minutes and as long as forty-five minutes.
Win and his family have rowed to Cypress Island for day outings. That trip takes about two hours with two people rowing.
Win plans to make some alterations to the boat so it can be used for fishing.
Bon Voyage, Win.
