Glen (and members of the committee) – As you have heard by now, Mr. Henry Hash, the new Director of Public Works, will be here any day now.  I believe a public introduction for him before the Board of County Commissioners has been scheduled for next Monday.  I have no doubt that Mr. Hash will be an outstanding addition to the County and will be a wonderful individual to work with as your committee continues its dialogue with the County relative to the ferry service provided to the island. I am sure it won’t be long and Henry will want to have an introductory meeting with you.

Before I fade into the sunset I want to thank you and the members of the Guemes Island Ferry Committee for the understanding and support you all have extended to me during my stay in Skagit County. It has been a pleasure and honor to meet each of the committee members, and I have enjoyed the many opportunities of dialogue we have had during the past year. You and your fellow committee members are well respected for the work you do on the island and I know the County administration and staff anticipate a long positive relationship with you as a conduit to the community.

Best wishes and “thanks for the memories.”

Tom Ballard, Interim Public Works Director
