The Dog Island Run
Picture perfect weather conditions and a group of 169 participants along with family members gathered at School House Park on Guemes Island to participate in the 14th Annual Dog Island Run/2 Mile Walk, on Saturday, June 25th. Proceeds from the Dog Island Run fund the maintenance and operations, and buy books and equipment for the Guemes Island Library. Touted as one of the top 3 most challenging 10K courses in the state of Washington, Runners completed the hilly, 6.2 mile course, encompassing the NW corner of the Island. Walkers completed a 2 mile “out-and-back” course, starting and ending at School House Park.

This years men’s division winner was Chad Norman, with a time of 37:37.  A new woman's course record was set by Jodee Adam-Moore, who finished with a blistering time of 38:09, a mere 31 seconds difference behind leader, Chad Norman.

Robert Bondurant (41:58) and Ilea Fowler (49:03) take men's and women's second place.

Paul Hines (43:27) and Katie Easton (49:14) take men's and women's third place.

A dedicated crew of volunteers, from Guemes Island, including the Guemes Island Fire Dept, aide station volunteers, front line staff who managed registration, Library Board Members, and traffic control volunteers helped make the Dog Island Run a success. Key technical support at the finish line was provided by Skagit Runners Running Club.
