Gary Edmund Messett
Gary Edmund Messett, 76, of Guemes Island (Anacortes), Washington, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born on December 10, 1934, in Seattle, Washington, a son to John and Gladys (Richardon) Messett. He grew up in the family business, “Dags Drive-in Hamburgers”, and eventually owned and operated the business.
Gary served honorably both on active duty and in the reserves of the U. S. Army from 1957 – 1963. During his time in Seattle, he was a member of the St. John’s Masonic Lodge and Yarrow Bay Yacht Club. Gary loved so many things in life, from dancing to boating, reading and gardening, but mostly socializing was his forte. He is preceded in death by his parents. Gary is survived by his wife Gail; daughter Tara Allen; grandchildren Erica and Grayson Allen; and brother Craig Messett.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Eden Cemetery on Guemes Island. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
