Remembering Gyneth Humble
Gyneth Rosella (Kvernstoen) Humble
October 20, 1923 to October 13, 2011
Gyneth was born in Keen, North Dakota on October 20, 1923 to Ida and Esten Kvernstoen.
Gyneth grew up in Sanish, North Dakota. After graduating from high school and attending Minot State, Gyneth left for Seattle in the fall of 1942. In Seattle, Gyneth worked for Nordstroms and The Boeing Company.
Gyneth married George Humble in 1945, and in 1948 they moved to Guemes Island where they resided for 44 years.
Both George and Gyneth worked at Copeland Lumber Yard in Anacortes until their retirement.
Gyneth moved to Mountain Glen Retirement Center where she has resided since 1992.
Her husband, George, preceded her in death in 1974.
Gyneth has one son and daughter-in-law, Clive and Diane Humble, who live in Burlington, Washington. There are two grandchildren, Julie Humble, of Austin, Texas, and Mark Humble, of Burlington.
A private family graveside service will be held on Guemes Island.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
According to This Isle of Guemes, "Mr. and Mrs. George Humble, of Guemes, owned the land between the church and the community hall and when they presented it as a gift to the church the area became the religious and social and business concern of the island."
