Ferry Committee 2012 Election Fund Donations
At the Ferry Committee Annual Meeting, January 15, 2012, nominations were opened for the position held by Carl Cady who is retiring from the committee after nine years of service.
This year, we have two candidates, Sally Stapp and Howard Pellett, who wish to seek election to the Ferry Committee. We thank Sally and Howard for their willingness to serve and represent Guemes Islanders in discussions with the County regarding matters relating to Guemes ferry service.
As you know, this mail-out election to almost 600 Guemes precinct voters is our way to demonstrate that those serving on the Ferry Committee have been elected by Guemes voters in a truly democratic process in which all registered voters on Guemes can participate.
The Ferry Committee is a non-funded organization, operating on community contributions. Our fund was nearly depleted and the cost of an election is substantial (stamps, three envelopes per voter, mailing labels, ballot printing, etc.). The Ferry Committee is asking for donations from the community to help defray the cost.
At our Annual Meeting, we received $110 in donations from those present. Consequently, we need to raise only $440 more! Thanks to all those have given to our election fund in the past, we hope we can count on you again.
