Remembering Ilia Meagher

Remembering Ilia Meagher

The World has lost a special person. It is with deepest sorrow that I let you know that my beloved wife, Ilia Meagher, passed away November 3rd, 2016, from a brain tumor. Ilia was a wife, aunt and friend to many people and the love of Michael Herrboldt. You may know Ilia from driving the Wizard of Ahhhs van around Anacortes and Guemes Island.

There are many things that I would like to say about Ilia but right now the loss is so great that I can't find the words. She will be missed by her family and all that loved her and knew her.

The following are a few words from a friend…

Today I met an angel. Her name is Ilia (ill-e-uh). Her hair is the color of a fire truck, and her eyes are the color of those amazing caves in Mexico and Peru...the bottomless ones with the sacred pools in them...dark around the outside but a blue you have to experience inside that. She's in the bed next to my Mom in the hospital. I knew before I walked into that room...I could feel her before I saw her. Bruised, frail, weathered, and the most beautiful being I've seen in lifetimes. We shared a moment today...just a hug, a whispered prayer, and we just clung to each other for a frozen moment. You know them when you meet them, the lights made flesh. And if you are paying attention & willing to hear...you will hear Creator. Today, I was given a hug from an angel. Today, for one frozen moment, I felt what real love was and is. So tonight I ask Creator to bless Ilia's journey, and help her to realize just how special & strong she truly is. Goodnight everyone....

Thoughts and prayers are welcome.

Michael Herrboldt
