Remembering Ansel Hyland

Ansel Q. Hyland (AKA: Grumpa) 74, died Monday, October 22, 2018.  Son of Ansel E. Hyland, Sr. and Frances M. Hyland.  Married Rebecca in 1968 (deceased). Born and raised in Eugene, Oregon.

Graduated from University of Oregon School of Medicine in 1970.  Honorable Discharge as a Captain of the U.S. Army in 1972.  Moved to Anacortes to take employment at Island Hospital Anesthesiology Department in 1975. He later retired in 2014 to Guemes Island which he discovered and fell in love with shortly after his arrival in Anacortes.

Favorite quote was, “You pass a stone, you pass a stone.  When you die, you’re dead, so stop saying they passed on because they didn’t pass anywhere, they died!”  Ansel’s spontaneous wit will be missed by so many.

He was loved by some, reviled by few, and respected by all.  He is survived by his sister, Zoanne M. Hyland; his two sons: Justice S. Hyland (44) and Joseph W. Hyland (40); grandchildren: Alanis Aries (21), Riley Hyland (12), twins: Gaige and Sloan Hyland (4).

We will miss you and place you in the arms of sweet baby Jesus.  Not really dad!
Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel of Anacortes, WA.  To share a memory of  Ansel, please sign the online guestbook at www.evanschapel.com
