GIPOA disbands

The Guemes Island Property Owners Association (GIPOA) is now disbanded.  GIPOA has taken leadership issues such as the formation of the Fall Festival, opposition to Navy Jet overflight over Guemes Island and a proposed Nori seaweed farm adjacent to North Beach to name a few.

It was recently decided at the February 8, 2020 GIPOA board meeting to notify the membership via postcards asking for volunteers or nominations for open officer board positions and if there was no response then GIPOA would be disbanded.

There was no response to the request for volunteers or for nominations from the membership.  Therefore, GIPOA is disbanded.

The free publication of the Guemes Guide has been updated and printed and we hope another organization or group will take over authorship of the Guide as well as leadership of the Fall Festival.

Also the Guemes Island Community Center Association has agreed to accept custody of the Betty Crooks Guemes Gold Scholarship funds.
