Terminal Project After Hours Emergency Response

Island Residents,

During the time that the maintenance work is being carried out on the Ferry Terminal Ramps GIFD has worked with AFD to develop the following plan to provide emergency medical services to the residents of Guemes Island.

-The “Down Time” landing craft will be available to transport patients from Guemes Island to Fidalgo Island for handoff with the AFD medic crew.

-GIFD crews will respond to any emergency calls and transport the patient via ambulance and the “Down Time” to Fidalgo Island for rendezvous with our medic crew.

-The patients will be accompanied by two GIFD staff who will maintain communication with us via radio (ems/fire band not marine band).

-The “Down Time” should transport the patients to the boat RAMP just EAST of Secret Cove Restaurant.

-AFD medic crews should monitor the radio but not dispatch to the boat ramp until directed by dispatch or the Guemes Fire Crew that the patient is arriving at the Secret Cove boat ramp.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING

**The GIFD will be quick to call for Airlift North West* for critical calls, but they may or may not be available due to weather etc…

**This plan will be in place for the duration of the work.

**THE GUEMES FERRY IS NEVER OBLIGATED TO TRANSPORT US AFTER HOURS.  THEY NORMALLY DUE SO BUT IT IS UP TO THE AVAILABILITY AND DISCRETION OF THE CAPTAIN AND CREW**

If you have any questions about this plan, don’t hesitate to call Chief Francis, Asst Chief Snell or Anacortes Fire Department Chief Oliveri, AC Kennedy or DC Walsh. respond. Chief Francis: (360) 395-8047; Asst Chief Snell: (360) 708-2432; Anacortes Fire:(360) 293-1925.
