Emergency Medical Transport During The Haul-Out

The Guemes Ferry is scheduled to be out for maintenance from 1900 hours, September 23rd to 0600 October 15th.

A passenger only ferry will be used during that interim. The procedures to be used for EMS incidents will be similar as in the past:

GIFD will respond to the scene in their transport capable Aid Car, #1719, and if feasible, quickly transport the patients to the ferry landing to rendezvous with our paramedics for further evaluation and/or treatment.

Anacortes Fire should board the passenger ferry (most likely the Arrow Launch) with their EMS kits and Stryker Gurney, and be prepared to swap out gurneys. If weather is fair, we can elect to keep patients on the gurney, on the rear deck. If inclement, GIFD will have a Stokes litter and personnel to cross with us so we can move the patients into the cabin. They will also have 2” x 6” boards so we can rest the litter across the seats.

GIFD will pick AFD Paramedics up at the ferry landing and transport to the scene if needed.
