County To Correct Schedule and Fare Information

Morning of May 27: Skagit County Public Works has mailed out a brochure that contains incorrect schedule and fare information.

According to Steve Flude, Assistant Director Skagit County Public Works:

We will be sending out a new mailer consisting of an apology letter signed by me, a corrected sailing schedule, and the corrected fare schedule. I hope to get this into the mail today, but it may not happen completely until tomorrow since our mailing list is over 900 addresses.

We will also suck back all of the non-mailed brochures and correct them so that they contain the right sailing schedule.

Afternoon of May 27: Steve Flude announced:

Notwithstanding my earlier statements this morning about issuing a correction regarding the errors in the printed schedule within the brochure (and the updated fare schedule) I just want to take a minute to inform you that we've come up with a better solution.......

Turns out that the printer had not yet sent the brochure to the postman. Thus, we intercepted same prior to delivery and will be correcting the brochure over the next few days. Our new mailing date is now Wednesday, 3 June 2004. We believe that the mailing is best corrected even if it arrives a few days after 1 June 2004.

In the meantime, Mr. Cox's crew, beginning tomorrow afternoon, will have in their possession at the ferry terminal new "green cards" (the fare and schedule card with which you are all familiar). These cards contain the proper schedule and proper fares.

Thus ends, I hope, a very hectic day in the life of the Guemes Island Ferry.
