Margaret (Peggy) S. Pair

January 25, 1930- March 26, 2021

Peggy Pair passed away peacefully on March 26, 2021 at age 91. She was born January 25, 1930 in West Orange New Jersey.

She attended Coe college in Cedar Rapids Iowa, and graduated with a degree in mathematics. It was there that she met her future husband Reese Pair.  They married January 25, 1953 and made their first home on the East Coast. After their son Bruce was born, they moved to Chicago. A year later, daughter Trish was born.

In 1964 the Pair’s moved to Medina, then Mercer Island, which would be home for the next 40 years. Peggy and Reese opened the “Gold Balloon“ toy stores. One on Pier 70, one on Mercer Island. During this time they also made six trips to Europe and three trips to Alaska. In 1984 they also purchased 10 acres of land on Edens Road.

In 2001 Guemes Island became home with trips to Arizona in the winters. Peggy was a volunteer for Salvation Army and Days for Girls in Anacortes. She was also very active in the Guemes Island Church, and Women’s Fellowship/quilting. She was especially fond of making pies for the annual pie sale!
