Cook's Cove And Long Bay Boat Storage

The HHA board has determined it necessary to implement a formal boat storage policy for the commonly owned properties of the HHA. The policy builds on our established framework posted at both our Cook's Cove and Long Bay properties. For those who have in the past stored their boats at Cook's Cove over the winter months. please note the implementation of a seasonal use policy.  Cook's Cove will now be closed to boat storage from October 15 to April 15 of the following year.

Please be aware that our rules allow for removal, and ultimately disposal, of boats that are out of compliance with the published rules established by the association.

There are several reasons for this update:

  • Accommodate the increased usage of our common properties by our members.
  • Allow for beach maintenance access;
  • Decrease the difficulty of maintaining the boat launch and surrounding gravel area at Cook's Cove when boats are stored on the beachfront and beside the lagoon over the winter months.
  • Reduce over-crowding caused by long term storage and abandonment of boats.
  • Mitigate environmental issues by reducing the damage to boats by winter storms and preventing the pollution generated when they break-up.

How you can help:

  • Properly mark your boat. Longtime HHA policy is that each boat must be marked with a current name and contact telephone number that is easily visible.
  • Remove any boat you have stored at Cook's on or before October 15th of each year and do not return it for overnight storage until after April 15th of the following year.
  • Store your boat in designated areas only.
  • Familiarize yourself with the HHA boat storage policy as found in our By-laws, please see Holiday Hideaway Association : HHA Governing Documents
